Mally Beauty's journey began in 2005 when Roncal, after years of crafting looks for celebrities like Beyoncé, Kelly Osbourne, and Jennifer Lopez, decided to launch her own line. The debut collection, which sold out in a record 40 minutes on QVC, included lip gloss, shimmery cheek powders, and a brush kit, offering fans a chance to recreate the looks of their favorite stars.

The brand's success led to expansion, with counters at Henri Bendel and later, major retailers like Ulta Beauty, Kohl's, and Nordstrom. Some of its hero products included the Poreless Face Defender balm, which controlled shine, and the Evercolor eye shadow sticks, both of which gained a loyal following.

However, by the mid-2010s, Mally Beauty faced challenges. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2015 and was subsequently acquired by Beauty Visions for $10 million. In 2018, it received a minority investment from Guthy-Renker Ventures, but the brand's struggles continued.

In 2021, Mally was acquired by AS Beauty, a New York-based business specializing in revitalizing struggling brands. Unfortunately, Mally's fate was already sealed, as it was one of three brands in the AS Beauty portfolio that cofounder Joey Shamah hinted might be phased out.
